Denied! (wherein we come to a fork in the road toward my Fall Palette Wardrobe)

My Fall Wardrobe Palette has been thwarted!  I was planning most of my separates around this Anna Maria Horner velveteen, of which I was going to make a jacket and yesterday I watched a lovely customer buy all we had left.  Stupid me, I could've controlled my destiny, but instead I lost out.  Boo.

My big challenge with the Fall Palette was to try and avoid orange, which is my favorite color.  The velveteen was empowering that avoidance.  Now I feel I must delve into orange for consolation.

Also because this is the other velveteen I want to use.  I want to make cigarette pants, or hot pants out of it.  I really, really want to make hot pants out of it.  Shush, they will look awesome with tights and boots.

So anyway, I feel like that insists on letting orange into the palette.  Make sense, right?  See how much of a challenge it is not to allow orange into the palette?   I think what I'll finally tell myself, is that I can allow orange into the wardrobe, but it has to ride on the coattails of the palette.  It can't actually be IN the palette, but it can play along.

Self-Stitched September Day 3 features the Study Hall Skirt by Anna Maria Horner, in two coordinates from Kate Spain's Central Park line. I love the silky hand of this cotton, it's just lovely.  I have 4 or 5 other prints from it waiting to be a dress, but I lost my confidence on my original concept.  I don't know if anything will come of it, but the fabric calls to me.  Perhaps my confidence will be bolstered into making this patchwork monster after all.

  3. I love both of those fabrics! As for orange, well... accent colors don't count right? ;)
